A Fan-First Party = First-Party Fan Data.
Monocz positions fans first — delivering a close-up view of the action and a tap-to-reward experience that feels like part of the event itself. In other words… a Party! That party could be a live concert, a live sports event or even a live theatrical spectacle!
One tap turns excitement into engagement, and engagement into measurable value.
This allows CDPs, teams, venue operators, and marketers to gain clean first-party and zero-party insights — straight from the source.
The answers you need to the questions you might ask…
Network congestion in-venue
Concern: “Will taps/links choke when 20k fans are on cellular/Wi-Fi?”
Answer: In most stadiums, taps resolve quickly because the redirect logic runs at the network edge. We also avoid heavy landing pages and can coordinate with the venue’s Wi-Fi/DAS team to keep things smooth. Modern venues are already leaning on Wi-Fi 6/5G to handle fan demand.
NFC device compatibility & adoption
Concern: “Do most fans’ phones even support tap?”
Answer: Nearly all modern iPhones and Androids support NFC, and fans are used to it thanks to contactless payments. We use a simple “open URL” tap so there’s no app to install.
Security screening / permitted items
Concern: “Will security confiscate these?”
Answer: Monocz is lightweight at 64g, (2 1/4 oz.) with no metal other than the miniscule NFC circuitry, so it typically clears without issue. Binoculars are often listed as allowed items, but we also provide a one-pager for venue security just in case.
Legal consent for email/SMS (Canada & U.S.)
Concern: “Are we covered on opt-in?”
Answer: We separate the tap itself from the opt-in step. Fans provide consent clearly, with proper disclosures, unsubscribe options, and timestamps. That way it lines up with CASL and TCPA rules.
Gambling/alcohol targeting & age gates
Concern: “We can’t show betting offers to under-21s.”
Answer: That’s why we use an age gate where needed, and deliver alternative sponsor content if needed. We log if over/under 21 as part of the device registration process. Of course we can adjust the age gate to local laws.
Privacy posture (first- vs zero-party data)
Concern: “How do we avoid creepiness and stay compliant?”
Answer: We only use what fans give us through their behavior (first-party) or explicit preferences (zero-party). Opt-outs are easy, and consent language is clear.
“Real” value vs gimmick risk
Concern: “Is this just swag with a link?”
Answer: Not at all — Monocz is a real 8x optical device that works the moment fans sit down. The NFC layer is designed for engagement, and since tap-to-engage is second nature now, it feels natural rather than gimmicky.
Reliability & scale of the redirector
Concern: “What if a link dies mid-game?”
Answer: The system is cloud-based and designed to scale. If something goes wrong, destinations can be swapped quickly without touching the hardware.
Creative/ops agility on game day
Concern: “Can we swap sponsors by period or trigger flash promos?”
Answer: Yes — operators can edit destinations in real time. It’s a flexible system that supports live changes.
Cross-stakeholder alignment (team, venue, sponsor, CDP)
Concern: “Who owns what and how do systems connect?”
Answer: Roles are usually shared: venues handle ops, teams manage creative, sponsors provide offers, and CDPs collect data. Our job is to make those connections easy.
We use Cloudflare Workers as a global, edge-deployed traffic director for every tap. Instead of just forwarding to one fixed page, our Worker applies business logic — such as campaign rotations, sponsor sequencing, or age-based gating — and then redirects the user to the right live destination. Because this logic lives at the edge, it’s lightning fast, infinitely scalable, and we can update or swap campaigns in seconds without touching the devices… All while collecting data.
About the tech..
With Monocz, we capture both first-party and zero-party data. Every tap generates first-party behavioral insights — when, where, and how fans engage. At the same time, our opt-in forms and gamified experiences collect zero-party data — fans explicitly telling us their preferences. That blend gives sponsors the richest, most actionable fan intelligence in the industry.
